Why did I create this blog?

This blog was created primarily to "honor" Kjell Tveter, a person for whom I have very little respect.
Beig a decent chap, I refrain from using a word like idiot even if I find it appropriate.
He has written a book that must be one of the worst books ever written for the purpose of propagating creationism. Pure, unadulterated, religious creationism: "Life,  Creation or Accident."
The level of his stupidity is evident from what he wrote in a newspaper article:
The foundation of the theory of evolution is that life spontaneously arose all by itself, without any "Creator."

I have challenged him on just that false claim but his response dodges the question, and is full of classical creationist crap from obviously ID sources.

More to follow later.

Cargo Cult Science

Yup, Cargo Cult Science, that's what Ann Gauger represesents.

You may start reading from the link, but you may also scroll up the page or even jump to the start with a click on "main". Pandas Thumb is a very good site, you might want to be a regular lurker there. I mostly lurk there as well but sometimes I can't contain myself and have to post a comment. But the guys that really make the site what it is don't need any outside help; they are very capable.

I've been watching the rise and fall of ID creationism, the cat is out of the bag and there is no more life left in her. Although the death throes may last a long time yet; they had high hopes and it must be very saddening to see hope die.

Pray, pray, pray. Your God will come to your resque;)

Why Evolution is True

On BBC2 from January 29th!

Read about it here:

Why evolution is true on BBC2

I am lucky, had a hell of a job installing a new parabol this fall - with LNB for a 28.2° East satellite - with BBC2 strong and clear!

I love quality science programs on tv. When they are good, they are very good. But there also is much speculative and sensational stuff out there, like all the UFO and other bizarre stories.

Casey’s Creationist Christmas.

From the Pandas Thumb:

QUOTE
This guest post is written by Paul Braterman and Mark Edon, and appears courtesy of the British Centre for Science Education.

BCSE has long maintained that the Seattle-based Discovery Institute (DI), of which Glasgow’s own Centre for Intelligent Design (C4ID) seems to be a satellite, is a religiously motivated Creationist organisation. Casey Luskin has now demonstrated this with great clarity in his response, in the misleadingly titled Evolution News and Views (“Serving the Intelligent Design Community”), to the recent opinion piece “Anti-Creationists need to think about tactics”, which we recently posted on our site. Thanks Casey.

Finger (Mal)formation Reveals Surprise Function of Desert DNA

Fra Science Daily, Nov. 28, 2011: — Scientists from the EPFL and the University of Geneva have discovered a genetic mechanism that defines the shape of our members in which, surprisingly, genes play only a secondary role. The research published in Cell, online the 23rd of November, shows the mechanism is found in a DNA sequence that was thought, incorrectly, to play no role. This long string has seven enhancers which, when combined with one another, modulate the activity of the genes responsible for the formation of the fingers -- an important fundamental discovery for the field of genetics.

Are ID researchers making progress?

To me, Darwinism is like bad money. It becomes an intellectual vice. People are always looking for natural selection to generate random mutation, the way they are always trying to pass on the likely-bogus G-bill (when they are not out looking for the lucky strike). Discovery Institute's Paul Nelson botches it.

I his introduction, Jerry Coyne writes:

... Last week I received an email from young-earth creationist Paul Nelson, who works for the Discovery Institute, taking me to task for what he saw as my unfair denigration of Jim Shapiro. Nelson’s beef was my contention that Shapiro is an outlier among biologists in minimizing the importance of natural selection in evolution. Nelson maintains that there are many other reputable biologists who “have frank doubts about selection” and wouldn’t agree with me. Here’s Nelson’s email, published with permission:

From Fish to Man: Research Reveals How Fins Became Legs.

Science Daily, Dec. 10, 2012 — Vertebrates' transition to living on land, instead of only in water, represented a major event in the history of life. Now, researchers reporting in the December issue of the Cell Press journal Developmental Cell provide new evidence that the development of hands and feet occurred through the gain of new DNA elements that activate particular genes.

ID on it's deathbed.

 Statistics tell the truth!

Avslørende trendkurver!

Contrary to claims by cdesignproponentsists about the glory of ID, the world has long since revealed the emptiness and falsehoods propagated by the religious movement to dicredit science and the theory ef evolution - with lies, quotemines, distortion of facts if not downright stupidity and ignorance, all founded in the faith in thousand years old tales, falsely accredited as being "divine revelations" and "holy scriptures".

Peer-Reviewed Paper in Medical Journal Challenges Evolutionary Science and Inaccurate Evolution-Education
